Both tell us where we stand with God and where we are in Redemption History.
What the Spirit in the Old Testament Concealed-The Spirit in the New Testament Revealed & Fulfilled -Acts 3:24.
A contrast of Covenants and Ages is an important key to understanding the New Testament.
1st the Natural then the Spiritual.
The Spiritual NEVER points back to the Natural.
1 Cor.15:46 “But the spiritual was not first; rather the natural and then the spiritual.
*Law is Mediator.
*This Age.
*Law.
*Earthly Jerusalem.
*Old Heaven and Earth.
*Ishmael-Hagar.
*Body of Adam.
*In the Sin of Adam.
*In the Death of Adam.
*Law temporarily covers sin.
*Temple, Blood Sacrifices.
*Obedience or Abandonment.
*Last days of the End of Old Covenant Israel.
*Earthy, Natural, Perishable.
*Jesus is the Mediator.
*Age to Come.
*Freedom & Grace.
*Heavenly Jerusalem.
*New Heaven and Earth.
*Isaac-Sarah.
*Body of Christ.
*In the Resurrection Life of Christ.
*In the Righteousness of Christ.
*People are Temple.
*Jesus Permanently Covers Sin.
*Praise is Sacrifice
*God’s Presence WITH us and IN us Forever.
*Unto Him be Glory in the Church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
*Heavenly-Spiritual-Imperishable.
So where are we today in redemptive history?
You are in the Kingdom of God- The New Covenant Nation of Jesus Followers that has no end.
Mt.21:43” Therefore say I unto you, the kingdom of God shall be taken from you (Old Covenant Israel) and given to a nation (Followers of Christ) bringing forth the fruits thereof.
Meaning: Those in Christ would be raised up from the “land” will inherit “the life” and bear the fruit (Rom.14:17) of God in this new restored Garden-Land-Kingdom.
In 1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Mt.11:29 “Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
So again, I ask where are we today in redemption history?
It ALL boils down to this:
The Good News is!
WE HAVE IT ALL IN JESUS!
